Visit your legislators

Paul Kinzelman of Peralta writes in:

The road (actually a *rail*road) trip to Santa Fe to see our legislature in their natural habitat was really a fun day. The train ride was great, much nicer than driving. And the Roundhouse was a short walk from the station. Because we called ahead, my state Senator (Eric Griego) got us onto the floor of the Senate during session. However, you’re supposed to wear a coat and tie to be on the floor, so we had to get “cleaned up” by the sergeant at arms by borrowing one of their stash of ties and a coat. I was sitting about five feet away from Diane Denish, the lieutenant governor.

We also hit it on “Culture Day” with a lot of interesting booths from museums all over the state to show the legislature the importance of them to their communities. And the building is beautiful as well, wonderful artwork all over the State Capitol.

I highly recommend taking a trip up to the State Capitol when the Legislature is in session; it’s a great experience!

The legislative session ends on March 21 at noon.
